Sabrina Im (they/she) is a queer poet, interdisciplinary artist, and diasporic cultural organizer living on the unceded ancestral lands of the Tongva peoples. A child of Khmer refugees, they are all about community building, healing justice, and creating sociocultural transformations.
They are an alum of the Urban Futures Lab Fellowship with Public Matters—a creative studio for civic engagement that advocates for and elevates the voices of marginalized communities through neighborhood based projects. Sabrina has previously worked with storytelling centered organizations like Studio Revolt, the Cambodian American Literary Arts Association, and with Visual Communications for their Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Often, they can be found exploring the rich cultures and rhythms of Los Angeles at community talks, gatherings, or supporting local creative spaces, like open mics.
Sabrina hopes to continue using storytelling as a means for mediating and cultivating inter-generational narratives, as well as mobilizing others to explore their creative agencies and nurture experimental collaborations too. They received a B.A. in World Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
